"Those who pass their driving test have had, on average, about 47 hours of professional training combined with 20 hours of private practice." Extracted from
the DSA website 17/11/2010.

An interesting quote I thought. Why is it that learning to drive these days takes so long? Quite often, when chatting to the parents of my pupils, I hear the words, "It  didn't take me that long, I took my test after 10 hours!"

It doesn't take an expert to realise that today's roads are busier and driving conditions are a lot more complex. Which means there is a lot of learning for new drivers to cover. Some pupils tell me that their parents aren't keen for them to practice in their parents' cars; some parents are genuinely too fearful to sit in with them and for some it's the high cost of insuring the car for their teenager's use.

All of this means, for me, that it is imperative that any training taken is of top quality. Your driving lessons won't just take place in Chichetser and Bognor Regis; I regularly go that extra mile, and your driving lessons will venture over to Worthing, Arundel, Southbourne, and beyond! My promise to you is that I will enable you to learn at your rate and always deliver to the best of my ability. I feel I am able to do this because I keep myself constantly updated with all that is going on in this industry by taking part in CPD. At the moment this is voluntary, but, like other sectors in the professional services area, will soon become compulsary.

When learning to drive I recommend two hour lessons, or a minimum of an hour and a half.  Research has shown that those only taking one hour per week will only get around 20 minutes practising the chosen subject for that lesson.  However, those that have one two hour lesson per week will get at least three times the practice each lesson meaning they achieve their goal of passing the driving test more efficiently, saving you time and money!

Also, watch out for those who offer 5 lessons for £55! Be sure to ask what length the lessons are! Remember, you always get what you pay for in life!

Please make cheques payable to Helen Adams. The fee for the driving lesson to be paid at the beginning of the lesson. Thank you.
